IAMNOMBUSO Book an Appointment

Terms and Conditions

Effective 3 September 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern every booking made with IAMNOMBUSO Makeup Artistry, the Durban North studio of Nombuso Qwabe. Please read them carefully before you book. They are written in plain English so you know exactly what to expect from us, and what we ask of you in return.

1.Acceptance of These Terms

Booking with us is simple, and these terms keep it fair for everyone. When you book any appointment, class, or service through our website, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions. If you book on behalf of another person, you confirm that they have also accepted these terms.

Our Refund Policy is a separate page on this website and forms part of these terms. By booking, you accept both documents together. If the two documents differ on any point, these Terms and Conditions prevail.

2.How Bookings and Payment Work

All services are booked on our website and paid for in full, upfront at the time of booking. Payment is processed securely by PayFast and we accept debit and credit cards and Apple Pay only. We do not accept EFT payments or cash deposits.

A booking is only confirmed once your payment is received in full. An unpaid booking does not reserve a slot. Once your payment goes through, we send your confirmation and reminders via WhatsApp to the number you provide.

  • Bookings can be made up to two months in advance.
  • The studio is closed on Sundays.
  • When you pay, your exact time slot and your artist are reserved exclusively for you.

3.Services and Pricing

Our current services and prices are:

  • Studio makeup with Nombuso: R850 for a 30-minute appointment.
  • Studio makeup with a Studio Artist: R600 for a 60-minute appointment.
  • Private one-on-one makeup class, learn your own makeup: R4,500, offered Monday to Friday.
  • Private one-on-one makeup class for aspiring makeup artists: R5,500, offered Monday to Friday.
  • Five-day Master Class: R12,500.
  • Wedding makeup packages: quoted individually after a free consultation.

After-hours fee: appointments that start before 08:00, or at or after 16:00, carry an additional fee of R250. This fee is shown and paid at the time of booking.

All prices are in South African Rand and are the total amount payable for the booking, inclusive of any applicable taxes. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay, with no further charges added.

4.Arrival, Lateness and No-Shows

Your slot is reserved exclusively for you, so please arrive on time. We recommend arriving a few minutes early so your full appointment time is spent in the chair.

  • Arriving more than 15 minutes late may be treated as a no-show and your appointment may be forfeited, except where South African law provides otherwise.
  • If we can still see you after a late arrival, your appointment may be shortened to protect the next client's slot. No discount or refund applies to time lost through late arrival.
  • Failure to attend your appointment is a no-show and the amount paid is forfeited, subject to the exceptions set out in the next section and to South African law.

5.No Refunds and No Reschedules

Once a booking is paid, it is final. We do not offer refunds for change of mind, and we do not move a paid booking to a new date or time. When you pay, your time slot is locked exclusively for you, your artist is reserved, other clients are turned away from that slot, and a premium appointment cannot be resold at short notice. That exclusive commitment is what you are paying for, and it is why paid bookings are final.

You may cancel a paid booking, but because of that commitment a cancellation charge equal to 100% of the amount paid applies, except where South African law provides otherwise. In plain terms, cancelling does not return your money, and change of mind, late arrival, or failure to attend does not entitle you to a refund or a new slot.

The only exceptions are:

  • If the studio cancels your appointment, for example due to illness, an emergency, or load shedding that makes the service impossible, you choose between a full refund and priority rebooking. We will contact you on WhatsApp so you can tell us which you prefer.
  • Death or hospitalisation. If a booking cannot be honoured because the person it was made for has died or been hospitalised, no cancellation charge applies and the amount paid is refunded, as required by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
  • Any right you have under South African law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

Because every booking is for a personal service or class that we undertake to provide on a specific date or within a specific period, the seven day cooling-off right in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 does not apply to our bookings, in line with the exemption in section 42(2)(j) of that Act, except where the law provides otherwise.

Where a refund is due, it is paid to your original payment method via PayFast, normally within 7 to 10 business days. Business days exclude weekends and South African public holidays. Our Refund Policy sets this out in full.

Chargebacks. By completing checkout you expressly authorise the full charge for your booking. If you have any query about a payment, please email us first at [email protected] so we can resolve it with you directly. If you ask your bank to reverse a payment without good reason, we will contest the dispute with our booking records, our messages with you, and this policy.

6.Makeup Classes and the Master Class

Private classes and the five-day Master Class are subject to the same payment, cancellation, and no-refund rules as all other bookings.

  • Your seat is personal to you. Enrolment cannot be transferred, shared, or sold to another person.
  • The class product list, which tells you what to bring, is emailed to you only after payment is received.
  • Missed class days are forfeited. If you miss one or more days of the Master Class, or part of any class, we do not owe partial refunds or catch-up sessions, except where South African law provides otherwise.
  • All class materials, notes, techniques, and curriculum content are the intellectual property of IAMNOMBUSO Makeup Artistry. They are provided for your personal learning only and may not be copied, distributed, recorded, or used to teach others without our written permission.

7.Wedding Bookings

Wedding makeup packages are quoted individually after a free consultation. Consultations are held Tuesday to Thursday.

Your written quotation sets out your package, your date, your price, and what is included on the day. These Terms and Conditions, including the no-refund, cancellation, and chargeback provisions, apply to every wedding booking alongside your quotation, and they are varied only where your quotation expressly says so in writing.

8.Client Responsibilities

To keep every appointment safe and enjoyable, we ask that you:

  • Disclose any skin conditions, allergies, or sensitivities before your appointment, including reactions to cosmetic products, so we can plan your service safely.
  • Arrive with any stated requirements met, for example a clean face where requested, or the products on your class list.
  • Treat our team and other clients with respect at all times.

Clients under 18 must be booked for by a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on their behalf and remains responsible for the booking.

The studio may decline or end a service where a client is abusive, threatening, or intoxicated, or where an undisclosed condition makes the service unsafe to perform. In that case the amount paid is treated under the cancellation section above, except where South African law provides otherwise.

9.Putting Things Right

We want you to love your look. If anything about your service concerns you, please tell your artist during the appointment so we can put it right in the chair, when it is easiest to correct.

Where South African law entitles you to a remedy for a service that was not performed to the required standard, we will first correct or re-perform the service. Nothing in this section limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

10.Communications

By booking, you consent to receive service messages about your booking via WhatsApp, on the number you provide, and via email. These include your booking confirmation, reminders, the class product list where applicable, and any updates about your appointment.

Please make sure the WhatsApp number and email address you give us are correct and that you can receive messages on them. We are not responsible for missed communications caused by incorrect contact details.

11.Photographs

We are proud of our work and may wish to photograph it for our portfolio and social media. We will only photograph you with your consent, which we ask for on the day of your appointment. You are free to say no, and this will never affect your service.

12.Limitation of Liability

Our products and techniques are professional grade and applied with care. It remains your responsibility to disclose allergies, sensitivities, and skin conditions before your appointment. We are not liable for reactions arising from conditions or sensitivities that you did not disclose.

Except where South African law provides otherwise, the studio's total liability to you in connection with any booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

13.Your Privacy

We handle your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). The details you provide when booking, such as your name, contact number, and email address, are used only to manage your booking, communicate with you about it, and provide your service safely.

Health information. When you share details of skin conditions, allergies, or sensitivities, you consent to us using that information for one purpose only, to deliver your service safely. It is never used for anything else.

We never sell your personal information. Payment card details are processed by PayFast and are not stored by the studio. WhatsApp and PayFast process some of your information as third-party service providers, in order to deliver your messages and payments.

We keep your information only as long as we need it for bookings and legal record keeping. You may ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

14.Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, images, logos, branding, and the IAMNOMBUSO name, belongs to IAMNOMBUSO Makeup Artistry. It may not be copied, reproduced, or used for commercial purposes without our written permission. Class materials and curriculum are also our intellectual property, as set out in the class section above.

15.Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time, for example when prices, services, or legal requirements change. The version published on this website at the time you book is the version that applies to your booking. Please review these terms each time you book.

16.Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
